The South Asia Research Forum (SARF) in an interdisciplinary group that brings together faculty and graduate students from across Northwestern whose research and teaching focuses on South Asia, a region that includes India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan, Tibet, and Afghanistan. SARF strives to be a leader in promoting knowledge of the South Asia’s literary, cultural, historical, and political life, and to support research across a range of academic departments. Members of SARF are affiliated with the departments of History, Comparative Literature, English, Asian Languages and Cultures, Religious Studies, Art History, Communications, Radio/Television/Film, and Communications. Events organized or sponsored by SARF include seminars, speaker series, workshops, reading groups, and community outreach.
